Bon Voyoge Snowbirds & News Update - October 16, 2019
At this time of year, we begin to lose many of you as you travel south to warmer winter locales. We wish you all the best, safe travels and fun times. We will miss you and we always look forward to your return! Have lots of fun and stay healthy!
Meanwhile, here at EPC, we are getting ready for our annual AGM on December 4, 2019, from 7:00-8:00 pm at the Royal Gardens Community League Hall. Please save the date and plan to attend.
With regard to our proposed fee increase, we continue to get overwhelming support for the proposed fee increase. The most responses, by far, talk about the good value our club is with our various program offerings to suit seemingly every need.
A very good question we received was “How will the decision to increase our club fee to $65 be made? Will it be a board decision or will it be a members’ decision?”
The answer is that the decision will be made by a vote by the members in attendance at the AGM on December 4. At the AGM, we will present our proposed 2020 budget for approval by those in attendance and subsequently, there will be a vote on the proposed fee increase.
Another request which we received was to clearly articulate the vision for EPC going forward.
So, here it is - Our vision is that the “Edmonton Pickleball Club is pickleball in Edmonton”. We envision an Edmonton Pickleball Club which presents excellent, full service pickleball programs in up to four strategically located and well equipped sites in the City of Edmonton and in partnership with the City of Edmonton. We envision that the EPC Courts at Royal Gardens will be the operational model for the additional sites which will come on stream beginning in 2020.
During the next two weeks, I am going to drop in on the various indoor play sites throughout the city so that you can ask me questions directly about our plans for the future and the subsequent proposed club fee increase. Don’t be shy – ask me questions. We want all questions asked and answered long before we get to the AGM in December.
Pickleball Club is a registered non-profit organization in Alberta.
