Indoor Play for 3.0 Players - August 29, 2019
Hello All 3.0s,
Indoor Play at Riverbend Junior High School – we have secured Tuesday evenings from 7:30-10:00 for EPC indoor pickleball at Riverbend Junior High School. The school has a nice, larger gym with three lined courts suitable for pickleball.
We have been lucky to get this gym for indoor pickleball. School gym space is very difficult to secure and EPC is pretty low on the list of community groups looking for gym space so getting this school gym is a good thing and represents progress for us.
Last year was the first year that our club secured any gym space at all so while this may not seem like much, we are moving in the right direction and it has been hard to even get to this point.
We may be able to get more gym space at a date later in September when it is “open season on unclaimed gym space” – we will certainly try but there are no guarantees.
So, at the moment, we will offer 15 spots to our 3.0s for a nine week run of Tuesdays as per the following dates:
These will not be drop in sessions. Like last year, we will ask for signups for the entire 9 week block. Cost of the 9 week block will be $45.00 per person, payable in cash or cheque on the first night of play.
If you don’t show up and pay the fee on the first night, you will lose your spot. This year, there can be no “I’ll pay next week”.
There will be additional dates available after Christmas and we will ask for sign ups to those sessions in November.
Adele Thomson is our EPC Board member focussing on indoor play and she has agreed to serve as one of our “Riverbend Captains”. However, we need one more volunteer to also serve as Riverbend Captain.
We have no storage capacity at Riverbend so our Captains will need to bring the nets to the courts each week, get them set up and take them down at the end of each session. The Captains will also bring the Round Robin Boxes and indoor balls each week. Nothing can be left at the school from week to week.
The Captains will also maintain the club relationship with the School Custodian so these are important positions.
We need one more volunteer to serve as Captain. Please contact me directly if you would like to be a Riverbend Captain for the nine weeks this fall. email@example.com
Once we have our second Captain in place, we will send out a SUG Invite to 3.0s for sign up. First come, first served.
Please look the dates over carefully before you sign up and be sure you can attend all nine dates.
As usual, I will give you a “heads up” re when the SUG Invite will go out.
