YOU MEET THE NICEST PEOPLE ON A PICKLEBALL COURT

 Newsletter - October 23, 2018.

Hello, Everyone,

A few thoughts and exciting, upcoming indoor events to share with you-

But first-

By now, you have no doubt heard about the violence at the Royal Gardens Community League Hall last weekend.  I have been in contact with Nadir from RGCL and he feels terrible about the incident but he assures us that the community is safe and that all those involved in the incident were part of an outside rental group. Below is RGCL statement to its partners and facilities users:

In light of the tragic incident on Sunday morning, I just wanted to give you a quick update about the status of the hall. As you have heard, tragic event on Saturday night occurred in the parking lot of our hall. There was a 30th Wedding Anniversary booked, 75 ppl, liquor and they had event insurance. Event was supposed to be from 7:30pm-12:30am. Apparently, by midnight there were upwards of 200-300 people. There was a fight in the parking lot sometime after 1am that ended up with an individual being shot in the parking lot. He was taken to the hospital by his friends where he later died from his injuries.

Since the events all happened outside of the hall, all programs and rentals are continuing as planned. The president of the league wants to reaffirm that this was an isolated incident from a party-gone-wrong, and that he hopes you continue to feel safe using the Royal Gardens facilities and amenities.

EPC at B-Active in Partnership with Inapicklepals.com – Leslie and Sean

We are into our second week of indoor play at B-Active and, by all accounts, things are going very well.

We do, however, need to clear up a possible misunderstanding.  Leslie and Sean came forward to develop the indoor play opportunity at B-Active in response to our EPC search for indoor play apart from that offered by the City of Edmonton Rec Centers.   We worked with them to develop a model whereby participants would receive approximately 30 minutes of instruction and skills development and then would play 2.5 hours in an indoor facility.  The central focus has always been to provide our members with a chance to play indoors in a structured setting rather than on a drop in only basis.  That participants would also receive some instruction was also central to the sessions but it was not the primary focus.

Going forward, Leslie and Sean are ready to offer their second series of sessions at B-Active.  This time the series consists of six sessions for $45.  The proposed dates are:

Monday sessions are for 2.0-2.5 players beginning November 12 and ending December 17

Tuesday sessions are for 3.0 players beginning November 13 and ending December 18

Thursday sessions are for 3.5-4.0 players beginning November 15 and ending December 20

Registration for this next series of sessions will open Friday, October 26 at noon.  Registrations at that time will be for all sessions, all ratings, first come, first served.

This time, please register directly at nobigdill@inapicklepals.com

More Indoor Play Choices with the Paddle Room Club

EPC members, Vinh Ngo and Jorge Quintero, have launched a new indoor opportunity.  Details are as follows:

We are happy to announce the creation of a new Pickleball Club that’s opening its doors to the public on the First week of November. “The Paddle Room” is  a Pickleball-only  indoor facility that will be opened 24hrs a day for members to enjoy year round. It will have a unique court booking software where members can login and book their courts in advance; you can do this via a computer or through your smart phone or by calling the club directly.  The Paddle Room has 2 full size Pickleball courts and one Dinking court and  is located in St. Albert, Alberta at:  #115, 25 Chisholm Avenue.

We will be having organized play, round robins, ladder and small tournaments at the club. More details can be found on the website at: www.thepaddleroom.com or by emailing admin@thepaddleroom.com.

Memberships are $89.99 a month, and it gives you the chance to play daily for 2hrs in Prime-Time -hours and another 2 hours in Non-Prime-Time hours. Discounts will be given for yearly memberships paid at once. Juniors can join for $34.99 a month. A one time initiation fee of $45 applies to all memberships and this gives you access to the court-booking software as well as the key fob to get into the club.

We will have a Cap of 110 members to allow everyone to have a chance to book courts and play.

There is no contract or commitment with The Paddle Room. If you are simply not happy or no longer want to play, you can always cancel your membership by giving us 30 days notice and there will be no cancellation fees.

The $89.99 a month membership pricing is an intro pricing for the months of October and November. After this period, the monthly rate will go up to $105 a month to be able to maintain the facility running and stay operational. If there is a waiting list after the 110 members have joined, we will be giving members the intro pricing discount of $89.99 as long as they joined the waiting list in the months of October or November of 2018.

We will be having an online membership payment system setup in the next couple weeks. This membership system will auto renew member accounts every month until it is cancelled and it will be auto debited on the last day of every month. If you choose to join before the online payment system is set up please email us at: admin@thepaddleroom.com and we will give you some payment options.

Stay tuned for a Grand Opening date coming up where we will have refreshments and some Pickleball games.

We hope you are having a good Pickleball season and we can’t wait to see you guys at The Paddle Room.
