YOU MEET THE NICEST PEOPLE ON A PICKLEBALL COURT

 Newsletter - August 27, 2018.

Hello Everyone,

Despite the changing weather, September is shaping up to be a busy month at EPC with two new player clinics and our Ron Strank Members Only Charity Tournament and Fall Social, September 22.

Singles, Anyone? - Clinic For Players at 3.5, 4.0, 4.5

Interest in singles Pickleball is beginning to balloon, so we are offering this singles clinic on September 4 from 6:00-8:00 at the Courts at Royal Gardens.

SUG Invites will go out on Tuesday August 28.  Limited to 12 participants so watch for the SUG Invite.  A small fee applies: $10 per person.

Clinic for 3.5 Players – September 10, 6:00-8:00 at Courts at Royal Gardens

This will be a rigorous session for 3.5 self rated players. Sean and Leslie will work you through all the skills 3.5 players should demonstrate and help you identify skills, shots, game strategies which you need to improve as a player.

While we continue to believe in self rating for 3.5, we also believe players need a clear understanding of the required skills for 3.5 play.  And, that’s where this clinic will help players.

We will offer this clinic again next year because it is our hope that over time, all of our 3.5 players will have had a chance to experience this clinic to measure their skills and to know what and how to improve as 3.5 players.

SUG Invites for this clinic will go out on Tuesday, August 28.  Capacity is 24 players and a small fee applies - $5 per person.

Ron Strank Members Only Charity Tournament – September 22

There is still time to sign up for this tournament as there are still openings at all player ratings.  Don’t be shy – sign up!  This will be a fun event!   And, don’t forget to sign up for the Fall Social as well.  Spouses, favorite friends and guests are very welcome. This is a charity event and this year all proceeds will go to the ALS Society of Alberta.

Lights for Evening Play

At the request of Royal Gardens Community League, we will set the lights to automatically go on at 6:00pm and to go off at 10:00pm each evening.  We are hoping to start this feature later this week.

Kareem’s Last Week

Kareem’s time with us ends on Friday, August 31.  He has done a terrific job for Edmonton Pickleball Club, very ably handling all kinds of tasks, routines and situations.  He has even learned to play Pickleball!

When you see him on the courts this week, be sure to congratulate him and wish him well as he returns to the Faculty of Business at the University of Alberta.
