After nearly 3 years of planning and work by the EPC Directors, construction started at Royal Gardens on August 31, 2017 with North West Paving, Tomko Sports Systems and Eagle Fencing. The result one month later was 6 dedicated Pickleball courts with new three colour acrylic topping (Plexipave), 2 tennis courts on new black asphalt with 4 more Pickleball courts on top of one and 2 basketball courts on the other tennis court.
The Royal Gardens Spring Court Schedule Goes Into Effect on Monday, April 30, 2018. Court access is explained when you receive your Membership Card and also under the MEMBERS Menu Tab above. We have organized playing times by self identified player Ratings and each ratings group has been assigned four playing events during the week. We have included evening playing slots as well. Round Robin Play, Ladder Play, InterClub Play, Orientation to PB and Open Play are all on the schedule. The Court Schedule Team will monitor and adjust it as needed as the outdoor season progresses. Hello My Friends,
It is with much sadness that I share with you that Ron Strank has passed away.
Words cannot express how profoundly moved we are by this news and we extend our sincere sympathy to Ron’s family.
Ron has been the very lifeblood of our Edmonton Pickleball Club and indeed the entire Edmonton and surrounding area Pickleball community. His enthusiasm for our chosen sport and his implacable style have shaped the growth of our sport and we are thankful.
When Ron saw that a task needed doing, he didn’t wait for approval or permission. He just went out and did whatever needed doing.
He loved organizing informal groups of Pickleball sessions. Many times he’d text a group “who is in for PB at ….” In this way, he often was the “glue” that held us together.
We are each enriched by having had Ron among us and his touch will forever be felt by our club.
In communal sadness, Helen
